Jen hated math so much that she refused to take Algebra 2 at her school. I signed her up for an online course, and hired Girls Moving Forward to help make the experience more positive. Not only did Jen get her first A in math, she also walked away from the program with a mentor who is an important part of her life.

My daughter was struggling in several subjects and was completely failing Algebra. She had trouble with some of the basics and as the other students advanced, she fell farther and farther behind. She was at risk of having to repeat the 6th grade. Working with a Girls Moving Forward tutor allowed my daughter to raise her grades in all the core classes; she was able to pass 6th grade! I have seen the increase in my daughter’s confidence at school as she understands more and more of the subjects thanks to her tutor. At the last meeting at her school all of her core subjects teachers mentioned her improvement and encouraged me to continue the tutoring through Girls Moving Forward. I certainly plan on it.

In the short time that my daughter has worked with Girls Moving Forward, I have seen not only a dramatic improvement in her math skills, but more importantly a real eagerness to learn. Her tutor Jessica, with the guidance of Girls Moving Forward, has been incredibly inspirational to Jenna. The fact that she makes learning fun has really helped in the learning process.

My daughter struggled with learning differences, depression, and low self-esteem. School felt so difficult to her that she wanted to drop out. We hired a Girls Moving Forward tutor to teach to her strengths and help revive her passion for learning. Our tutor helped us find the right school for our daughter, and supported her through the transition. Now our daughter is beginning to talk about college. What a turn-around!

After researching all the available options, and interviewing a large number of tutors and educators, we determined that the Girls Moving Forward model provided the most complete and thoughtful approach to tutoring. In addition, their understanding of the need for solid mentoring and providing a role model was very appealing. The tutor assigned to my daughter is a cherished and respected mentor who has already made an enduring positive impression. The results have been very impressive. My daughter’s end of year report card is an obvious record of positive accomplishment and includes statements from her teacher describing how she has ‘shown progress and grown in many ways.'
